Credit Suisse Tries NFTs

Melania Trump's NFT sales are slow

Former US first lady Melania Trump's all-American Solana NFT collection was released ahead of the US Independence Day celebrations and sales were lackluster.

Of the 3,000 NFTs released on June 29, only 586 have been sold. That doesn't include an additional 500 that won't be announced until July 4.

Among the exhibits, the "1776 Collection" comes in six different designs emblazoned with patriotic symbols. There are 500 of each design, priced at $50 each.

According to the Trump office, a June 29 Fox News article reported that the collection celebrates "the foundation of the American ideal."

A different audio track is embedded in each NFT design, playing patriotic songs. One of the pieces depicting the Statue of Liberty was played during the American national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."

A portion of the proceeds from the collection will reportedly go to Trump's Nurturing the Future nonprofit initiative, which provides computer science scholarships to children leaving foster care.

Dior's NFT is silent on the "NFT" part

A new product from French luxury brand Dior will feature NFTs, but the brand appeared to be vague about the term "NFT" in its launch announcement.

On June 30, Dior announced that it will launch a series of new shoes, one of which offers a "digital twin"

Dior describes the twin e-shoes as [a unique and secure digital creation on the Ethereum blockchain" - a play on words that seems to deliberately obscure that the [digital twin" is just an Ethereum-based NFT.
