Since its release in 2017, the total forging volume of BNB is 200 million pieces. After the destruction, the current circulating supply of BNB is 163, 276, 975. This new quarterly burn is the 20th in the series and contains 18181.77BNB according to the PioneerBurnProgram4.
Since last year, the exchange has replaced the initial quarterly BNB burn with an automatic burn feature, providing greater clarity and predictability to the BNB community. The exchange said in a press release in 2021 that Auto-Burn is objectively certified and independent of its profitability.
In their words:
BNBAuto-Burn[is] independent of BinanceCEX and will automatically adjust according to the income generated by the use of BNB, because the burning amount will be based on the same BNB, which reflects the supply and demand of price BNB. BNB, the number of blocks generated in a quarter based on the information on the chain.
B indicates the number of BNB to be destroyed, and N indicates the total number of blocks generated on BSC in the calendar quarter. P is the average price of BNB in USD. K is used as a constant value of the price anchor, initially set to 1000.
The automatic destruction of BNB will be suspended when the total supply of BNB falls below 100 million.
