What are MetaMask Alternatives

2023 07/17

The first method is not new. As we said before, you must convert your bitcoins to any other ERC-20 protocol-based cryptographic token before you can store them in your MetaMask wallet. With a safe and secure exchange platform, you can always exchange your Bitcoin for any other Ethereum-based token and still get the same value from it. After exchanging bitcoins, you can send Ethereum-based tokens to your MetaMask address for safekeeping.

Use wrapped wBTC

Another trick you can use to store bitcoins in your MetaMask wallet is through a process called wrapping. When you buy Bitcoin and decide to stake it, it means that you peg the value of Bitcoin to another token based on the Ethereum platform. Raw bitcoins are wrapped into a digital vault, while newly minted tokens based on the ERC-20 protocol are sent to MetaMask wallets. When you wrap bitcoins, the resulting tokens are called wBTC. The wBTC token is very popular because it allows you to use Bitcoin as any token, simply by pegging its value to the value of the asset you want to spend.

Alternatives to MetaMask

While MetaMask is a great wallet, there is no doubt that its limitation of only using the ERC-20 protocol written for tokens is a feature that causes many concerns. Many users are reluctant to exchange or wrap their Bitcoin or similar assets for Ethereum-based assets just because they want to use the MetaMask wallet. If you are one of such investors who do not want to change their crypto holdings, then it is best to look for alternatives to MetaMask. You can use several wallets that allow you to store thousands of cryptocurrencies according to different protocols. Blockchain and Trustwallet etc. are good examples.
