What is MetaMask?
As we said before, MetaMask is an Ethereum-based wallet. Officially launched in 2016, MetaMask allows its users to access their Ethereum wallets through a browser extension. MetaMask defines interactions between smart contracts and MeteMask by securely connecting to decentralized applications using JavaScript plugins such as Ethers or Web3js.
MetaMask has several advantages over regular crypto wallets, which is why it is so popular. For example, the Metamask wallet is versatile and supports over 450,000 coins on the Ethereum blockchain. You can even store NFTs in your MetaMask wallet and connect it to marketplaces like OpenSea. In addition, MetaMask supports multiple blockchains, such as POlygone, BNB Chain, Avalanche, etc. The list of things MetaMask could do better is endless.
Is MetaMask only for Ethereum?
MetaMask is an encrypted wallet based on the Ethereum ERC-20 protocol. So, this is why people wonder if MetaMask is only for Ethereum. MetaMask is only used to hold Ethereum tokens. Therefore, when you buy Bitcoin or any other cryptoasset that is not based on the ERC-20 protocol, you cannot use a MetaMask wallet to store it. With MetaMask, you can securely store tokens as long as they are based on the ERC-20 protocol. If you must store any tokens that are not written in the ERC-20 protocol, then you must first convert them to tokens written in ERC-20 before storing them in your MetaMask wallet. Since there are thousands of cryptographic tokens written in ERC-20, you have a long list of tokens to choose from that are similar to the one you are using.
How to store Bitcoin is MetaMask?
As mentioned earlier, MetaMask is a wallet that holds Ethereum-based tokens. Therefore, if you buy bitcoins, you cannot send them or store them in your MetaMask wallet. However, if you must buy bitcoins and store them in MetaMask, you can use two workarounds to buy bitcoins and store them in your MetaMask wallet.
